This errors can occurs when you try to connect Jetpack to your website.

I describe here one specific case that can leads to this error:

1. your wordpress installation is not publically available online and you get an error claiming for public website
2. you change your DNS record and now the website is available
3. you try to connect Jetpack and get following error :

verify_secrets_missing on install

WordPress.com is using a sort of cache and this error can disappear as soon as the wordpress.com cache disappear.

If you want to avoid this wait and this error, make sure that your wordpress install and modules are up to date and that your wordpress installation is remotely available.
